A new institute “Research Center for Structural Thermodynamics” started on April 1, 2009. This institute has succeeded the former “Research Center for Molecular Thermodynamics”. The mission of the present Center is to create new view of materials by combination of exact thermodynamic study and structural study for various systems through the initiative of international collaboration. Here, research activities for the last year are reported.
The member of the Steering Committee for our Center consists of Professors Koichi Fukase (natural product chemistry), Toshio Kasai (reaction dynamics), Yasuhiro Nakazawa (solid state physical chemistry), Yoshichika Onuki (solid state physics), Takahiro Sato (macromolecular assemblies), Haruhiko Takisawa (biological nuclear function), Hitoshi Watarai (analytical chemistry), and myself (structural thermodynamics).
