Solvent Effect on the Structure of the
Thin Film of 10,12-Pentacosadiyn-1-ol

Self-assembled layers of 10,12-pentacosadiyn-1-ol (25DYol) physisobed on HOPG have been investigated by STM(scanning tunneling microscopy). Well-ordered layers were deposited from the solution. As the solvent, phenyloctane, toluene, 1-heptanol, and 2-heptanol were selected. The lattice constants of 25DYol layer from 1-heptanol were largely different from those from other solvents. This difference might result from hydrogen bonds formed between 25DYol and 1-heptanol. Therefore, we are expecting as follows. While 1-heptanol exists on HOPG it influences the layer structure of 25DYol. Even after 1-heptanol evaporating, the history of the structure remains.
