Mr. Shuhei Fukuoka who is a third year student in Ph. D course was honored the William F. Giauque Award in Calorimetry Conference held in August 17-23 in Atlantic City, USA. This award is a research encouragement award for Ph. D student to support travelling fee to attend the conference. The title of his research is gThermodynamic Study of π-d Interacting Molecular Compounds under a Precisely Controlled Magnetic Fieldh. He presented the development of small relaxation calorimetry cell available available in combination with superconductive magnets and reported the heat capacity results of κ-BETS2FeX4 (X=Cl, Br) system. The role of π-electrons and d-electrons in the layered structure have been discussed from thermodynamic viewpoints. The superconductivity coexisting with the antiferromagnetic ordering was also discussed in the 30 min oral presentation.
