Hydrogen-Bonding Effect on Spin-Center Transfer of Tetrathiafulvalene-Linked 6-Oxophenalenoxyl Evaluated Using Temperature-Dependent Cyclic Voltammetry and Theoretical Calculations
Nishida, S.; Fukui, K.; Morita, Y.
The article on the hydrogen-bonding effect on spin-center transfer of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF)-substituted 6-oxophenalenoxyl neutral radicalhas been published as Full paper in Chem. Asian J.
We have successfully observed a change in the redox potentials involved in the spin-center transfer of the neutral radical with decrease in temperature using a conventional low-temperature electrochemical cell we designed and fabricated. Furthermore, theoretical calculations indicated that hydrogen-bonding interaction by 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol as solvent promotes the spin-center transfer.

Control of Exchange Interactions in π Dimers of 6-Oxophenalenoxyl Neutral π Radicals: Spin-Density Distributions and Multicentered–Two-Electron Bonding Governed by Topological Symmetry and Substitution at the 8-Position
Nishida, S.; Kawai, J.; Moriguchi, M.; Ohba, T.; Haneda, N.; Fukui, K.; Fuyuhiro, A.; Shiomi, D.; Sato, K.; Takui, T.; Nakasuji, K.; Morita, Y. Chem. Eur. J. 2013 , 19, 11904-11915
The first article on the crystal structures and the solid-state properties of 6-oxophenalenoxyl derivative, stable neutral radicals we designed and synthesized, has been published as Full paper in Chem. Eur. J. These radicals form π dimers in the crystalline state similar to tri-tert-butylphenalenyl radical, while the intradimer exchange interactions are very small due to change in topological symmetry of spin density distribution and substituents on the 8-position.
