Neuromorphic Molecular Devices

Nanosized materials, such as molecules, usually exhibit large fluctuations at normal temperatures. They often exhibit behaviors very similar to the fluctuations, noise, resonance, spiking, and memory functions of neurons. We demonstrated these neuromorphic functionalities as nanomolecular devices that extract these behaviors from carbon nanotubes and molecular composites. We are working to elucidate not only the function but also the physicochemical phenomena that cause stochastic behavior from the viewpoint of a single molecule.
