Research areas

  1. Phase transitions and low-energy excitations in molecular superconductors.
  2. Novel quantum behavior in strongly correlated electron systems.
  3. Magnetic behavior of molecular magnets and metal complexes.
  4. Search for novel quantum phenomena under various external conditions.

We study the physical and chemical properties of condensed matter systems that consist of molecules and atoms. In particular, we are interested in identifying and characterizing the mechanisms for novel phenomena related to superconductivity and magnetism. Along these lines, we constructed original low-temperature calorimeters for measuring the heat capacities of small single-crystal samples. To study novel phenomena induced by changing external parameters, a calorimetry under pressures and with magnetic fields is also performed. Throughout the thermodynamics research, we aim to elucidate the mechanisms that underlie mysterious behavior in condensed matter systems.
