(12 km)		 Mountain between Lake Biwa and Kyoto. Location of Enryaku-ji Temple founded in 788 and still being an active center of Buddhism.
Omi-hachiman
(18 km)		 Historical canals can be explored by small tour boats.
Koka
(31 km)		 One of the two major hometowns of Ninja's. Ninja house open for tourists.

(40 km)		 City of 1.5 million population. Used to be the Capital of Japan in 794-1867. Many historical temples, gardens and museums.
